KARACHI: Amid the Muharram processions in the city, the Karachi police is committed to provide fool-proof security to the mourners of Ashura (9-10 Muharram), reported BOL News on Saturday.
The Karachi Police Chief, Jawed Alam Odho, said that all security measures in regard to Muharram are complete and foolproof security is ensured in all the assemblies and processions.
He also said that in the city there is a tradition of more than 1000 processions every year among which 176 gatherings have been declared highly sensitive while more than 300 have been sensitive.
While touching on the public gatherings (Majalis) he said that nearly 7,500 majalis are being held in the city every year adding that full security will be deployed across the city on the 9th, 10th and 11th of Muharram.
The security measures will be ensured by more than 10,000 personnel with the help of scouts and rangers.
Odho also said that amid the monsoon rain, more problems have surfaced which are being looked into.
It is pertinent to mention here that Ashura will be observed on August 8 and 9 across Pakistan.
