A woman who was on vacation in North Carolina and discovered a stray bear climbing on the back deck of her home used her “teacher voice” to scare the bear away.
Debbie Tomlinson, a former educator in Greenville County, South Carolina, stated that she was at her condo in Sapphire, North Carolina when her husband notified her that a bear was climbing on the back deck. Tomlinson had been teaching at the time.
Tomlinson captured the encounter on film and uploaded it to YouTube. In the footage, she can be heard yelling at the bear through a window and telling it to go.
“What do you think you are doing on my porch? You get up, go, go! How dare you?” Tomlinson can be heard in the video talking to the bear.
She claimed that she utilised her authoritative “teacher voice” to demonstrate her seriousness to the bear.
“It works every time. I wasn’t afraid. I just didn’t want to lose my feeders. It was very exciting,” Tomlinson expressed his views to the media.
