The final price, including the “buyers premium,” was a hefty £16,900 (about C$26,330).
Hansons asserts that the equipment for killing vampires dates from the late 19th century. “Tools and holy things to ward off vampires” such as crucifixes, a matching set of pistols, a brass powder flask, holy water, a Gothic Bible, a wooden mallet, a stake, brass candelabra, rosary beads, and old papers from the Metropolitan police are all contained inside the wooden box.
According to Charles Hanson, proprietor of Hansons Auctioneers, “interest in this object ahead of the auction, both from possible bidders and media outlets all over the world, was intense.”
According to Hanson’s statement in the news release, vampire beliefs have a long history in Europe and are still prevalent today.
It serves as a reminder that people from all walks of life are impacted by the vampire myth, he added.
The Hansons news release included a remark from the unnamed buyer as well. They remarked, “I was astounded and thrilled by the outcome. It’s an interesting object and a topic of conversation. They continued by saying they enjoyed the “novelty and historical significance” of the vampire-slaying gear.
