A surprise march by white supremacists was held on Boston’s “Freedom Trail”; on Saturday afternoon.

The Boston Herald reported that tensions erupted between onlookers; and a group of roughly 100 Patriot Front members who were clad in beige khaki pants; blue shirt uniforms, and white masks while brandishing shields.

Prior to Independence Day, the group marched through the city’s centre; while carrying upside-down US and colonial flags as well as some banners; bearing Benito Mussolini’s National Fascist Party’s logo; according to the newspaper.

According to the story, a brawl broke out between several white nationalists and a black man; they were insulting.

“You will have safety if you sincerely desire it. But you can take nothing else with you”; a member of the group who was not wearing a mask reportedly urged bystanders; in front of the Boston Public Library while using a bullhorn.

The rally was swiftly condemned by Boston authorities.

“To the white nationalists who rushed through the city centre today: We don’t cover our faces when we march. Mayor Michelle Wu, a Democrat, tweeted, “Your hatred is as despicable; as it is revolting, and it goes against everything that Boston stands for.”

“We celebrate the ongoing effort to expand these liberties for all; and ensure that Boston will be a city for everyone,” she reportedly said to CBS. “We recall Boston’s past as the cradle of liberty.”
