Snapchat Plus launched today, and like Twitter’s paid subscription, Twitter Blue, it looks to be aimed for power users interested in Snapchat’s experimental and exclusive features.
Plus was released on Wednesday. We know some specifics about the new premium subscription:
- There are no payment tiers and it costs $4 per month.
Snapchat Plus will offer “exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features” Like Twitter Blue, it offers monthly features and app tweaks.
* It’s launching today in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
* Select Snapchat+ on your profile to sign up for Snapchat Plus in the app. However, we couldn’t find this option on Android. Snapchat Plus may still be coming out in the above-mentioned countries.
According to The Verge, Snapchat will only have “cosmetic” updates to its functionality. You will be able to customise the app’s icon, pin and identify friends as “BFFs,” and “see who rewatched a tale.”
The Verge points out that, similar to Twitter Blue, paying for a subscription to Snapchat Plus does not guarantee ad-free use of the service. Despite paying the monthly fee of $4, you will still be subjected to advertisements.
