The Covid-19 cases continue to soar in Pakistan as the positivity ratio has reached 3.50% across the country with 541 new infections over the last 24 hours, data shared by the National Institute of Health (NIH).

The stats also revealed that it has been the first time in three months that the cases have crossed the mark of 500 cases. The new cases have once again pushed the country towards mandatory SOPs and mask-wearing.

NIH reported that 15,462 samples were tested for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours and one death was reported across the country.

Meanwhile, 100 patients are in critical care.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has once again made the wearing of face masks mandatory for domestic flights due to the new surge in COVID-19 cases.

According to a notification, all concerned quarters must ensure compliance with the new order with immediate effect. The notification added that the other COVID-19 guidelines on domestic air travel remained unchanged.

On the other hand, Inspector General (IG) Sindh has directed the on-duty police officers to wear masks and follow the SOPs. A notification was also issued in this regard that holds that the use of sanitizer and frequent hand washing must be practiced daily during duty hours.
