After a fight broke out between two groups of women, a demonstration outside a wine store in Delhi descended into violence. Screams were heard as the female bouncers, dressed in black, were beating and kicking the female protestors. During the fight, a police officer was also assaulted.

A group of local women who were opposed to the opening of the liquor store in the area mounted a demonstration on Thursday night, which is when the argument began. They started fighting with the shop’s female employees as their demonstration became more agitated.

Ranjit, a head constable at the Tigdi police station in south Delhi, was assaulted and his uniform was torn when he attempted to step in. A police crew quickly arrived at the scene and stabilized the situation.

Ten persons are in custody now after ten arrests were made. The injured were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Center for a medical evaluation.

Police said that a case was filed against the 10 people detained under numerous sections, including 146 for rioting.

“There have been ten suspects detained in this case. Staff have been deployed in sufficient numbers to prevent further tension and the situation in the region is under control “Deputy Commissioner of Police Benita Mary Jaiker remarked (South).
