BTS have announced that they will be taking a “temporary hiatus” to pursue solo careers.

Suga, Jin, RM, J-Desire, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, a South Korean boy band, hope to “spend some time apart to learn how to be one again.”

The K-pop group made the announcement informally at their annual FESTA dinner, which was taped and uploaded to YouTube.

Halfway through the hour-long video, the band’s seven members discussed the future of BTS and their intentions as solo artists.

“I’ve really started my solo preparations now,” J-Hope said at the outset of the conversation.

BTS’ stance on solo music has shifted, according to the K-pop singers, and J-Hope will be the first band member to make a solo album.

“We’ll be officially showing our individual colours starting with J-Hope,” RM continued.

The band revealed to fans that they are all working on solo projects and that they take various methods to them.

Jimin added: “Now we’re starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered by our fans.”

“I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole ‘idol’ system is that they don’t give you time to mature.

“You have to keep producing music and keep doing something,” said band member RM of the time constraints that have previously prevented their solo projects.

Member J-Hope said of the decision: “We should spend some time apart to learn how to be one again, I hope you don’t see this as a negative thing, and see it as a healthy plan. BTS will become stronger that way.”
