- Johnny Depp won a defamation action against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
- However, his popularity has plummeted since the actor won the case.
- His favorability among baby boomers has dropped from 59% to 37%.
Finally, Johnny Depp may breathe a sigh of relief. Amber Heard filed for divorce and obtained a temporary restraining order against the actor in 2016. Since then, there have been reports of domestic violence, s*xual abuse, and much more. The Fantastic Beasts star only recently won a defamation action against his ex-wife. However, his popularity has plummeted, contrary to expectations.
Depp had filed a $50 million defamation action against the Aquaman actress in 2018 after an op-ed she penned in The Washington Post. She claimed to be a public figure who had experienced domestic violence. The court found her guilty and ordered her to pay $10.35 million in damages. She was also given $2 million after Johnny’s counsel dismissed her claims as a “hoax.”
Since Johnny Depp won the defamation trial against Amber Heard, there has been a lot of sympathy for him on social media. However, according to research gathered by analytics firm Morning Consult, the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor’s popularity has dropped significantly since his win, particularly among baby boomers and men.

Around 68 percent of US adults were ‘very’ or ‘somewhat’ favorable to Johnny Depp in April. In June, however, the percentage fell to 56%. His favorability among baby boomers, on the other hand, has dropped from 59 percent to 37 percent. Men experienced a similar decline, dropping from 67 percent to 52 percent during the same time period. Women and kids, on the other hand, continue to be underrepresented.
The good news is that Johnny Depp’s popularity on social media is only growing. More and more petitions are being circulated calling for his return to Pirates of the Caribbean. The public, on the other side, is calling for Amber Heard to be removed from Aquaman 2.
