Following the formal events, the Ukrainian diplomat thanked the Governor General of Canada for supporting Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion, expressing her gratitude for the attention paid to the country, the encouragement to share news of the war challenges with Canada and Canadians, as well as the active readiness to assist Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
It should be emphasised that the embassy was without a new head for some months after the previous Ambassador, Andriy Shevchenko, was recalled from Ottawa last year as part of regular diplomatic rotation.
