PPP, PML-N in tug of war for Punjab finance ministry

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and its coalition partner Pakistan Peoples Party are in a virtual tug of war to get Punjab finance ministry for their respective nominated person, sources informed Bol News on Monday.

The new provincial finance minister will present budget in the next assembly session scheduled on June 16-17. PML-N is putting their weight behind Mian Mujataba Shuja ur Rehman while the PPP wants Makhdoom Usman Mehmood for the post. However no decision has been taken yet on this regard.

Sources privy to development informed that the government is facing little hurdles in drafting the next budget because of the absence of finance minister. As many as 12 more ministers will be inducted in Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz’s cabinet in coming weeks.

The provincial government is already contemplating on how to get budget passed from the assembly.
