Seven drug traffickers arrested in Afghanistan

KABUL: The Afghan caretaker government said on Wednesday that security personnel in the country’s three northern regions had detained seven narcotics traffickers.

The suspects were arrested in connection with drug trafficking in several separate operations in Samangan, Takhar, and Balkh provinces in recent days, the ministry stated in a statement.

According to the statement, security personnel also confiscated a quantity of drugs such as opium, methamphetamine, and heroin.

The caretaker administration in Afghanistan has pledged to combat illegal narcotics, drug production, and drug trafficking.
