Johnny Depp expects trial will help him reclaim his reputation

Johnny Depp is hopeful that the shocking trial will help him reclaim his reputation, as the primary goal of his defamation action against his ex-wife was to clear his name in the public eye.

After six weeks of testimony, the jury in the 58-year-old actor’s defamation trial against Amber Heard has begun deliberations.

This case for Depp has never been about money,” said Depp lawyer Benjamin Chew. “It is about Mr. Depp’s reputation and freeing him from the prison in which he has lived for the last six years.”

In closing arguments in Depp’s libel trial against his ex-wife, Camille Vasquez told the jury that Heard “ruined his life by falsely telling the world she was a survivor of domestic abuse at the hands of Mr. Depp.”

For the sake of his children, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor has previously stated that he is going through a long ordeal with his ex-wife.

According to analysts, the actor’s victory is especially significant because it may help prove that something false was claimed about him.

Meanwhile, Heard’s attorneys claim that Depp damaged her life by conducting a smear campaign against her after she divorced him and publicly accused him of abuse in 2016.s libel trial against his ex-wife.

In Virginia’s Fairfax County Circuit Court, Depp is suing Heard for $50 million over an op-ed she published in The Washington Post in 2018 characterizing herself as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” His lawyers claim the story defamed him despite the fact that his name was never stated.

After his lawyer dismissed her charges as a fraud, Heard filed a $100 million counterclaim against the former “Pirates of the Caribbean” star.
