Three missiles fell outside US military air base

An Iraqi army source claimed three missiles fell outside the perimeter of an air base housing US military specialists and agencies in Iraq’s western region of Anbar on Monday.

According to an official from the Anbar Operations Command who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the three missiles fell in the evening near the Ayn al-Asad Airbase in the town of al-Baghdadi, about 190 kilometres northwest of Baghdad.

The rocket launchers were discovered by Iraqi security forces after the strike in a location outside the town of Haditha, roughly 210 kilometres northwest of Baghdad, according to the source.

Although no organisation has claimed credit for the attack, uncontrollable militias often target Iraqi military stations housing US military advisors around the nation, and the US embassy in Baghdad has been repeatedly attacked by mortar and rocket strikes.

It’s worth noting that Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi acknowledged the conclusion of the US-led coalition’s military operation in the nation on December 29, 2021.
