Microsoft discovered four high-severity issues in Android System apps that have received millions of downloads. The business also stated that the problem has been resolved. The flaws, on the other hand, could have allowed threat actors to stage remote and local assaults or be utilized as routes for obtaining sensitive information by exploiting their vast system rights.
“As it is with many of pre-installed or default applications that most Android devices come with these days, some of the affected apps cannot be fully uninstalled or disabled without gaining root access to the device,” the Microsoft 365 Defender Research Team said in a report.
Large international mobile service providers such as Telus, AT&T, Rogers, Freedom Mobile, and Bell Canada are among the affected apps —
- Mobile Klinik Device Checkup
- Device Help
- MyRogers
- Freedom Device Care
- Device Content Transfer
It’s worth noting that the vulnerable apps can also be found on the Google Play Store.
