The European Council has resolved to enhance military aid to Ukraine by EUR 500 million, bringing the total amount granted to Ukraine’s defence needs under the European Peace Facility to EUR 2 billion.
This is noted in the Council’s news statement, which can be found on their website.
“On the battlefields of Ukraine, tomorrow’s history is being written today.” With this €500 million, the EU has set aside a total of €2 billion to support EU member states’ military equipment deliveries to Ukraine’s Armed Forces. This assistance is simply one component of Europe’s overall endeavour to assist Ukraine in defending itself. The EU and its members are adamant about continuing.
“We’ve been doing it since the beginning of the war, and we’ll keep doing it until the conclusion,” Josep Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated.
The aid package includes €490 million for military weaponry that is designed to deliver lethal force for defensive objectives, as well as €10 million for equipment and supplies like as personal protection equipment, first aid kits, and fuel.
On February 28, March 23, and April 13, 2022, previous aid measures were agreed upon.
