Unknown species might be hidden in a 192-meter-deep sinkhole in southern China, which has created a forgotten planet.
Spelunkers found the sinkhole located in Lee County in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The hole has its forest inside of it.
On May 6, Chen Lixin led a cave expedition team into the pit.
The interior of the sinkhole measures 306 meters long and 150 meters broad. Three cave openings were also discovered in the chasm and old trees that were 40 meters tall.
“I wouldn’t be surprised to know that there are species found in these caves that have never been reported or described by science until now,” Lixin told Live Science.
The latest discovery brings the number of sinkholes in Leye County to 30, according to Xinhua news agency.
