Country suffers load-shedding but energy minister fails to accept

ISLAMABAD: Federal Energy Minister Khurrum Dastagir on Tuesday claimed that the country has been load-shedding free since the beginning of the month.

During a press briefing, the minister also claimed that there is no power shortage in the country. As of today, he said the power production is 22,634MWs.

He claimed that load-shedding is only being done only in areas with severe line losses and inadequate bill recoveries.

Dastagir asserted that when he left the ministry of energy on May 31, 2018; the power shortfall did not exist. However, he blamed that the power plants producing around 7,000MWs have been shut down till he reassumed the charge on April 26.

Contrary to these claims, different parts of the country suffered long hours of unannounced load-shedding.
