ALL WhatsApp users have been cautioned to be on the lookout for a potentially dangerous hoax text.
Crooks are impersonating WhatsApp Support to trick you into passing over personal information.
Scammers who aim to steal your information or money frequently use messaging apps. WABetaInfo, a popular WhatsApp site, is now warning users to be wary of fraudulent “help accounts.” These con artists employ profile photos that appear to be authentic and verified.
However, there is a simple technique to verify whether or not the account is genuine. A green confirmed tick will appear next to the name of legitimate Meta-owned WhatsApp Support. Crooks are not eligible for this confirmed badge.
They might, however, try to deceive you by putting the badge on their profile photo.
If you receive a message from an account like this, ignore it and delete the text as soon as possible.
