Queue for the trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has gone viral

Those attending the trial have been attempting to obtain wristbands.

On social media, a line of people waiting to get into the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial has gone viral.

Depp is now suing his ex-wife for defamation over an op-ed she penned in The Washington Post in 2018 about being a domestic abuse survivor.

Though Depp’s lawyers believe that the post erroneously implies she was sexually and physically abused by him during their marriage, Heard did not mention Depp by name in the piece. She also filed a complaint against her ex-husband, alleging that he orchestrated a smear campaign against her.

A fresh video, taken by journalist Nick Wallis today (April 25), shows a very large line of public observers waiting outside the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia, where the trial is being held.

According to The Washington Post, 100 wristbands are offered to spectators starting at 7 a.m. every morning, with the passes proving to be quite popular based on the lines.

During Depp’s cross-examination last week, the actor was grilled about his drug use with Marilyn Manson, with the goal of learning more about the actor’s history with substance misuse.

“We drank together, we’ve had cocaine together maybe a couple of times,” Depp said. Heard’s lawyer proceeded to ask if pills were involved, Depp replying with a chuckle: “I once gave Marilyn Manson a pill so that he would stop talking so much.

A photo of a Keith Richards demo CD adjacent to four apparent lines of cocaine and glasses of beer was later provided to the court by the lawyer. There was also a box with Depp’s initials and a skull and crossbones in the photo.

Heard’s lawyer asked if the box contained cocaine, Depp saying: “I can’t say that I carried cocaine in it … but it looks like it would fit some cocaine.”

As the trial progresses, figures like James Franco and Elon Musk are expected to testify on favour of Heard, according to Deadline. Depp accused both Franco and Musk of having an affair with his ex-wife.

In 2020, Depp lost a libel lawsuit against The Sun for an April 2018 piece in the paper that referred to him as a “wife beater,” with Judge Mr Justice Nicol declaring that the remarks were “substantially true.”
