War between Russia and Ukraine: Zelenskyy begs for more weapons ahead of a visit by US officials

“We will announce precisely tomorrow in terms of the list of weapons we require and the rate at which they will be delivered,” Zelenskyy said during a press briefing.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Saturday that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will visit Kyiv on Sunday to discuss Ukraine’s request for more stronger weaponry, precisely two months after the Russian invasion began.

“We will announce precisely tomorrow in terms of the list of weapons we require and the rate at which they will be delivered,” Zelenskyy said during a press briefing. Zelenskyy did not specify the location of the meeting, and the White House, National Security Council, and State Department have all declined to comment on his statements. According to two defence sources, the Pentagon would not comment on the claim.

On the eve of Orthodox Easter, the Ukrainian leader made his remarks as Russian forces continued to bombard cities and villages in southern and eastern Ukraine. Officials in Odesa said a 3-month-old baby was among eight people killed when Russia fired cruise missiles at the Black Sea port city, while Serhiy Haidai, governor of the Luhansk region in Ukraine’s east, said Russian shelling killed eight people and injured two others in the towns of Hirske and Zolote on Sunday.
