The evacuation of residents from the Luhansk region will continue even if a ceasefire regime is not implemented
According to Ukrinform, this was said by Serhiy Haidai, the leader of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, during a nationwide telethon on Ukrainian TV networks.
The governor stated that the territory has been given with evacuation buses and fuel, and that approximately 20% of the population remains in the Luhansk region, compared to data prior to February 24.
“The total number was about 300,000 people, now – up to 70,000. Those people are remaining who afraid to lose their property. We try to persuade them, but let’s not confuse: it is evacuation, not deportation, deportation is carried out by orcs. Unfortunately, the main motivation for people – when shells and mines hit their shelters, houses or when they see dead neighbors in the morning,” Haidai said.
In addition, the chairman of the Luhansk Regional State Administration indicated in a Telegram message that people from the communities of Rubizhne, Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk, Popasna, and Hirska will be evacuated today.
The projected intensification of the fight in the east, he claims, has already begun. The situation is particularly severe in the Luhansk region, but Ukrainian soldiers are holding the line, repelling the enemy’s attack in Rubizhne and Popasna, where the opposition has suffered considerable losses.
According to Ukrinform, Russian military are regularly attacking the Luhansk region. In the region, many residential buildings, infrastructure, and educational institutions have been destroyed. All of the hospitals in the area have been affected.
