Have Your Say: Is it appropriate that buying petrol & diesel automobiles will be forbidden from 2030?

PURCHASING new petrol and diesel automobiles will be forbidden from 2030. Do you believe it’s right that buying petrol and diesel automobiles will be banned?

Announcing his green plans, Boris Johnson said: “Our green industrial revolution will be powered by the wind turbines of Scotland and the North East, propelled by the electric vehicles made in the Midlands and advanced by the latest technologies developed in Wales, so we can look ahead to a more prosperous, greener future.”

The UK transport industry is now the most polluting, being responsible for 27 percent of total UK greenhouse gas emissions.

Second-hand automobiles will be unaffected by the prohibition, with petrol and diesel cars still being able to change hands on the used market beyond the cut-off date in 2030.

There are around 31.8 million automobiles on Britain’s roads, with roughly 18.8 million operating on petrol, and over 12.3 million on diesel.

Even while the globe suffers due to man-produced pollution and global warming, there are still those who don’t want to make the move to electric vehicles for a number of reasons.

The Government has stated that by the time the ban comes around, there would be £1.6 billion spent on green infrastructure to power EV vehicles from households across the UK.

But are you ready to give up your gasoline-driven car? Do you think the Government should have a say in what cars you can and can’t drive?
