There was a massive power deactivation by the households in UK, to convey their complications regarding electricity expenses, on Sunday at 10 p.m.

Households turned off their lights for ten minutes to send a statement about rising energy expenses
The British are following in the footsteps of their Spanish counterparts, who participated in a similar event in March.
The price cap for gas and electricity was raised by Ofgem earlier this month, causing bills to rise by 54% to £1,971 for a typical home, up from £1,277 previously.
From October, some experts believe that prices might rise as high as £2,700 per year.
People in the UK are being warned that if they don’t pay their bills, they would die with hunger, cold, and maybe commit suicide.
The post that provoked the public:
A facebook post was widely shared that said, “The idea is that, if it won’t put you at risk, you switch off all of your electrical appliances, lights, or switch off at the breakers for 10 minutes.
“This short power off will cause an imbalance on the national grid, where consumption becomes lower than predicted and therefore the electrical supply is too great.”
“To protect the grid, power stations will be temporarily disconnected or issued notices to attenuate their output.”
It further added, “Because the grid is publicly owned, but power supply is private, this effectively creates a 10 minute boycott of the privatized portions of our power supply, losing them up to an estimated £9m in revenue.”
“That’s right, private energy companies take in an estimated £9m every 10 minutes in UK!”
“It is hoped that this slap in the wallet will cause energy companies to revise their prices, as was the case in Spain,” concluding the message.
Can the act be repeated?
The blackout may now become a weekly occurrence, with the next one scheduled for Saturday, April 16 between 7 and 7.10 p.m.
People are bursting with anger and saying that they will take intense emergency measures if their demands are rejected.
