EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the European Commission in Kyiv on Friday.
Their visit came at the same time as the European Union sent its ambassador back to Kyiv, a sign that the country’s security has improved and that the EU-27 is still committed to the country.
Ursula von der Leyen and Josep Borrell also visited Bucha, a town outside Kyiv where Russian forces are accused by Ukraine’s allies of committing atrocities against civilians. “Here in Bucha, we have seen our humanity shattered,” Ms von der Leyen said.
