Meghan Markle has severed one of her last links to the United Kingdom by terminating her sponsorship of a British animal welfare organisation, thereby sealing her and Prince Harry’s migration to the United States.
Mayhew revealed at the start of the year that the Duchess of Sussex’s tenure as a royal patron was coming to an end.
After Ms Markle became a patron in 2019, the charity said it had been a “incredible privilege” to work “closely” with her.
According to the Express, the Duchess claimed in an emotional message that she “fell in love” with Mayhew after being introduced to it by a friend who sadly died.
Meghan Markle has lost one of her final ties to the United Kingdom by ending her sponsorship of a British animal welfare organisation, thereby cementing her and Prince Harry’s relocation to America.
Mayhew announced at the beginning of the year that the Duchess of Sussex’s role as a royal patron was coming to an end.
Ms Markle became a patron of the organisation in 2019, and the organisation said it was a “amazing honour” to work “closely” with her.
The Duchess stated in a heartfelt note to the Express that she “fell in love” with Mayhew after being introduced to it by a friend who unfortunately died.
Meghan began her final letter to Mayhew by explaining how she discovered the organisation.
“My great friend, animal behaviourist Oli Juste, introduced me to Mayhew,” she added.
“We had many things in common, including a strong devotion to animal welfare and a profound affection for rescue dogs.
“In fact, Oli and his fiancé Rob assisted in caring for my rescue dog, Guy, when I had recently arrived to the UK and he was recovering from a terrible injury. They adored him as if he were their own.
“It was roughly four years ago, while I was looking for volunteer opportunities, that Oli introduced me to Mayhew.”
She went on to describe how she “fell in love” with the organisation and their “local mission to find homes for abandoned dogs.”
The loss of her close friend Oli made the Duchess “heartbroken,” she wrote.
