New drone footage from Ukraine shows the moment Russian tanks and armoured vehicles were wiped out in a catastrophic ambush strike today. Footage circulated online showing the column being annihilated near Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, as Russian soldiers were forced back by Ukrainian fighters. This comes as Ukrainian army reclaim more than 30 towns and villages in the area around Kyiv.
The footage shows Russian tanks being targeted in broad daylight before being reduced to smoke and smouldering embers.
The raid is yet another successful ambush by Ukrainian soldiers, leaving President Putin’s men reeling.
Experts, including NATO officials, have cautioned that the Russians may just be retreating in order to reorganise and plot a fresh onslaught on the capital.
“Russian forces are not withdrawing, but relocating,” stated NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
Earlier today, Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych informed national television that Ukraine was advancing around Kyiv while maintaining the front line against Russian soldiers in the east.
“Let us not be deceived – there are still tremendous fights coming for the south, for Mariupol, for the east of Ukraine,” he continued.
Residents in the recently freed towns have been urged to be cautious, according to emergency services in Kyiv.
They allege that around 1,500 explosives were discovered in a single day during a search of the village of Dmytrivka, which was the site of the ambush assault.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky further accused Russian military of purposefully mining regions where they are fleeing.
On Saturday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko warned that withdrawing Russian soldiers were causing a “total disaster” outside of Kiev.
He said that forces had discovered explosives across “the whole region,” even around homes and bodies.
“They are mining the entire area,” President Zelensky stated. They are mining dwellings, mining equipment, and even the corpses of those who have died in the mines.
“There are a lot of tripwires, and there are a lot of additional risks.”
