ISLAMABAD: The opposition on Sunday slammed National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser for stopping media from coverage of proceeding of the National Assembly session where voting on no-confidence motion is likely to take place.
Requesting the speaker to let the media workers go inside the parliament, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said the media was being stopped to keep everything confidential.
“Voting is every member’s right. Article 6 will apply on the one who will not cast his vote,” she said adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan was being voted out constitutionally.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Democratic Movement Spokesperson and Jamiat Ulema e Islam-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah said Asad Qaiser was placing restrictions on media coverage in the parliament. “Even state television is not being allowed to cover the NA proceeding,” he said requesting the NA speaker to avoid banning media coverage.

He expressed resentment over the act saying that it was a pity that the speaker was getting instructions from Bani Gala, residence of PM Imran Khan.
“The PDM and joint opposition wants complete coverage of the NA session so that the world could witness scenes of the no-confidence voting,” he said.
Hafiz Hamdullah said the Niazi regime was being uprooted democratically and constitutionally.
He said the government wanted to restrict media because it had intentions of creating chaos in the parliament.
The PDM spokesman asked the speaker to avoid playing the role of facilitator of Bani Gala and respect his designation.
