Transparency stressed to distribute Zakat

KARACHI: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Religious Affairs, Zakat and Ushr Fayyaz Ali Butt has said that distributing Zakat among deserving and needy people is the prime responsibility of officials concerned and the process should be kept transparent.

“The provision of Zakat to the deserving is our great duty. We all have to knuckle down serious work together to fulfill this onus so that no complaint might be lodged,” he said this while presiding over a meeting at the Sindh assembly committee room.

Secretary Zakat Ghulam Abbas Detho and Zakat and Ushr district officers from across the province were also present.

They shared reports of their respective districts to find solutions to resolving some matters in the meeting. The performance of the officers was also reviewed in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Fayyaz Ali Butt directed officers to ensure the provision of Zakat to deserving persons in a transparent way. There must be transparency in the process of distribution of Zakat. He said categorically that any kind of corruption would not be tolerated. He said that reaching out to poor and deserving people is one of top priorities of the Sindh government.
