CJP Afridi summoned Full court meeting to discuss SC rules changes

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi has called a full court meeting of the Supreme Court on September 8, sources said on Friday.

The meeting will have a one-point agenda: reviewing the recent amendments made to the Supreme Court Rules 2025.

According to sources, the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association has already shared written proposals with the court. These include a demand to reverse the recent hike in court fees. However, no judge has yet submitted any suggestions for changes to the rules.

The Supreme Court Rules 2025 were earlier approved through circulation and passed by majority vote. But some judges had disagreed, saying such important changes should have been approved in a full court session. Even after 15 days, no formal proposals have been submitted by the judges, sources added.

The upcoming meeting will now discuss the recommendations from the Supreme Court Bar.

Before the administrative session, the Supreme Court will also hold a ceremony to mark the start of the new judicial year, during which a facilitation center will be inaugurated.
