Railways introduces Wi-Fi service for passengers at Cantt Station  

KARACHI: Pakistan Railways, in collaboration with StormFiber, has launched free Wi-Fi service for passengers at Karachi Cantt Railway Station.

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi said the free internet facility at the station marks an important step toward introducing modern amenities in the railway system.

He added that technology is being used to bring ease to passengers, while StormFiber stated that the service aims to make passengers’ waiting time more pleasant and productive.

Addressing the traders and industrialists at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Minister said that Wi -Fi facility was being provided at 40 stations, 155 stations are going to be solarized and 60 % have been increased while 27 stations in Karachi are being taken solarization.

He said that with $2 billion in financing from the Asian Development Bank(ADB), work has begun to upgrade the Karachi–Rohri railway track, which will reduce travel time by four hours. A total of 480 kilometers of track from Karachi to Rohri will be improved under the project.
