GUJRAT: Despite a decline in rainfall, the city continues to face urban flooding after torrential downpours and the inflow of floodwater two days ago.
According to officials, Gujrat received more than 550 millimeters of rain in just two days, triggering severe urban flooding. While most of the rainwater has receded, floodwater entering the city has prolonged the situation, leaving several areas still inundated.
Authorities said that two streams from Azad Kashmir also entered the city of Gujarat, while protective embankments have yet to be constructed to block the floodwater that entered the city yesterday, leaving several low-lying areas vulnerable.
The administration operated boats for the displacement of people in different areas, while the tractor trolley also transported people from the affected areas to other places.
Due to the current flood situation in the city, educational institutions and offices will remain closed in Gujarat today.
