Pakistan Railways soon launch new train service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has decided to start a new train service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi to make travel easier for daily commuters.

The decision was made at a high-level meeting held at the Railways Headquarters in Lahore. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and attended by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

During the session, officials reviewed the overall security of Pakistan Railways, with special attention on protecting railway lines and operations in Balochistan. They briefed the ministers on the steps being taken to strengthen security across the network.

The meeting also approved a joint operation against encroachments on railway land. It was decided that the National Constabulary, together with the Railways Police, will take part in these drives, while the Frontier Constabulary (FC) would provide full support.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured that all possible measures will be taken to ensure the strict security of railway tracks and trains, saying that passenger safety is the government’s top priority. He also praised Pakistan Railways for its recent efforts to improve services.

Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi thanked the Interior Minister for his support, especially in helping with the anti-encroachment campaign.

The meeting was also attended by Railways CEO Amir Ali Baloch, IG Railways Police Rai Tahir, and other senior officials.
