Hundreds of heatstroke cases reported in Sindh

KARACHI: At least 393 people have been affected by heatstroke between April 14 to May 18 across the Sindh province.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh released data of heatstroke victims from heatstroke between April 14 and May 18. The PDMA registered a total 393 cases out of which 227 men, 162 women, and 4 children.

The worst-hit area is Shaheed Benazirabad where 361 heatstroke cases have been reported. Similarly, Khairpur registered 16 cases, Tando Allahyar 11 cases, and Matiari 4 cases.

In the last 48 hours alone, 78 new cases of heatstroke have been reported across the province.

Additionally, the heatwave has resulted in the death of 31 livestock animals across Sindh.

In response, heatstroke wards and emergency camps have been set up throughout the province to provide relief and medical assistance.

Authorities continued to urge the public to take precautions and avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours.
