YouTube is reportedly upgrading its AI-powered auto-dubbing feature to better support creators of knowledge-based and informational content. This update aims to help content creators reach a global audience by breaking down language barriers using Google’s advanced AI technology, Aloud.
Availability of the Auto-Dubbing Feature
The new feature is accessible to thousands of YouTubers producing educational or informational videos as part of the YouTube Partner Program.
Videos originally in English will be automatically dubbed into French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. Conversely, English dubbing is available for content created in these languages.
Viewers can easily switch back to the original audio track if desired, using a track selector that highlights the auto-dubbed label.
How the Feature Works
Creators do not need to take additional steps to use this feature. Upon uploading a video, YouTube automatically detects the language and generates dubs in supported languages.
These dubbed versions can be viewed in the Languages section of YouTube Studio, where creators retain full control to remove any dubs they find unsatisfactory.
Limitations and Feedback
As this feature is relatively new, YouTube acknowledges that translations may occasionally lack alignment with the speaker’s tone or fail to meet expectations. Creators and viewers are encouraged to provide feedback to improve the accuracy and quality of the auto-dubbing system over time.
This innovative feature is set to transform how creators connect with diverse audiences worldwide, fostering more inclusive content sharing.
