Mobile internet services have been fully restored across Pakistan after the conclusion of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protest in Islamabad. However, many users are still facing difficulties accessing social media platforms, with many relying on Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to connect.

Reports indicate that popular social media apps, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram, are experiencing issues. Users have reported problems with uploading and downloading photos and videos, as well as sharing audio and video files on WhatsApp.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed the restoration of mobile data services but did not address the ongoing disruptions with social media apps.

On November 23, the government had announced the suspension of internet services in major cities like Islamabad, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Gujranwala. While mobile phone services remained operational, internet and broadband services were suspended as part of security measures ahead of the PTI protest scheduled for November 24.

The Interior Ministry had directed the PTA to suspend services in these areas, with the ministry noting that internet shutdowns would be determined based on security assessments. Other regions of the country continued to experience normal internet and mobile services.

Late Tuesday night, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that schools, roads, internet services, and the Metro bus system would resume as the situation returned to normal. He confirmed that schools would reopen on Thursday, roads would be cleared by Wednesday, and internet services and the Metro bus would be operational by Wednesday morning.
