ISLAMABAD: Federal Government has put Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on high alert ahead of Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) Summit.
PIMS administration has issued a circular for all departments, high alert will be in effect from October 13 to October 17.
Shift staff, emergency staff, clinical departments were instructed to prepare emergency roster.
According to the circular, deployment of staff in general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedic, cardiology, critical area and emergency will be ensured, no leave request given by the staff will be processed.
The circular said that Director Emergency PIMs Dr Sharjeel Zaheer has been appointed as focal person during high alert.

Earlier, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired an important meeting at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to review preparations and arrangements for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
The meeting also focused on the beautification efforts underway in Islamabad and other development projects.
During the session, Minister Naqvi emphasized the need for extensive beautification of key areas, particularly the Red Zone and VIP routes.
He directed that attractive landscaping be implemented along major roads and instructed that the entire city be adorned with vibrant flowers and decorative lights in preparation for the international event.
