Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant Ambani, recently wrapped up his long-awaited marriage to Radhika Merchant after months of extravagant pre-wedding celebrations. The event has sparked widespread discussions among people and the media about its exorbitant cost.

According to reports from the Financial Times and various Indian media outlets, Anant Ambani’s wedding is being touted as the most expensive marriage ever held globally. The estimated total expenditure reportedly reached around Rs 5,000 crore, which includes substantial payments made to international stars like Justin Bieber, who received Rs 83 crore, and Rihanna, who earned Rs 74 crore for their appearances.

This figure surpasses the costs of famous weddings such as Princess Diana and Prince Charles’s, which totaled Rs 1,361 crore, and Sheikha Hind Bint bin Maktoum and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s, which amounted to Rs 1,144 crore, making it one of the most lavish weddings worldwide.

The Daily Mail also reported that a staggering Rs 2,500 crore was allocated specifically for the pre-wedding events, covering expenses like the luxurious Celebrity Ascent cruise liner, private jets, and extensive security measures.

Forbes estimates the overall cost of the entire wedding extravaganza to be between Rs 4,000 crore and Rs 5,000 crore ($0.6 billion), a fraction of the Ambani family’s immense net worth.

Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding celebrations kicked off with pre-wedding rituals in March in Gujarat’s Jamnagar, culminating in grand festivities in Mumbai, Maharashtra, recently.
