WhatsApp now has the Meta AI chatbot, fulfilling its long-awaited promise, and this update is also accessible in Pakistan.

You don’t have to manually update WhatsApp for this new feature as it’s a server-side update, but we advise keeping your app updated in case you haven’t noticed the feature yet.

You can access Meta AI by tapping the new search bar labeled “Ask Meta AI or Search” at the top, or by tapping the new Meta AI icon above the button to initiate new chats. It functions similarly to ChatGPT as a conversational AI chatbot designed to respond to queries typed as prompts, powered by Meta’s Llama 2 open-source AI model.

By default, it offers numerous prompt options like “Help set fitness goals,” “Solo travel benefits,” “Home maintenance 101,” and more. However, you can input your own prompts through the text box at the bottom. Additionally, you can communicate with the chatbot using emojis.

Meta AI has an added capability compared to ChatGPT: it can generate AI images within a minute, albeit at a small resolution and marked as AI-made. These images are downloadable and shareable like regular WhatsApp media. Furthermore, meta-AI can function within group chats.

On WhatsApp Desktop, Meta AI is referred to as “AI Character,” although it’s essentially the same feature with a different name. This chat is synchronized across all your devices, ensuring that you can view the same messages on both your phone and desktop.
