Security forces kill 8 terrorists in North Waziristan

Four terrorists killed in two separate engagements in North Waziristan

RAWALPINDI: At least eight terrorists have been killed during an intelligence based operation (IBO) by the security forces in general area Razmak of the North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence based operation in general area Razmak, North Waziristan District, on reported presence of Khwarij(terrorists) on the night between September 25 and 26.

During conduct of the operation, intense fire exchange took place between own troops and khwarij(terrorists), as a result of which, eight Khwarij(terrorists) were sent to hell.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed Khwarij(terrorists), who remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces as well as target killing of innocent civilians.

The sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area as security forces are determined to wipe-out the menace of terrorism from the country.

On the other hand, President Asif Ali Zardari lauded the security forces for carrying out a successful anti-terror operation in the Razmak area of North Waziristan.

The president said the security forces showed exemplary gallantry in eliminating eight terrorists in the operation.

“The operation against terrorism will continue till the elimination of this scourge in toto. The whole nation stands by its security forces in this fight,” President Zardari said and reiterated the resolve to protect the lives and properties of innocent citizens.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paying tribute to the security forces for carrying out a successful anti-terror operation in Razmak area of North Waziristan, expressed the hope that the terrorists would be eliminated from across the country soon.

“God willing, Khawarij (terrorists) will be completely eradicated from the entire country soon,” the prime minister said in a statement who is currently on a five-day visit to the United States to attend the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

He said that the timely action by the security forces led to the killing of eight terrorists in the operation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said that the protection of lives and properties of the citizens from terrorists was among the government’s priorities.

Divya posted a video of her experience from the almost empty airport to Instagram on Thursday morning. She said she was shocked to find herself checked in for a flight that was no longer in service and that she had not been informed of the cancellation of her flight.

In her post, she stated, “Thank you for a very horrendous experience in the wee hours! No notification of a cancelled flight… am checked in on a cancelled flight. The flight announcement reflects at the gate!” Divya further criticized the lack of airline staff available to assist stranded passengers, describing her experience as “huge harassment.” She added, “No staff to assist! Huge harassment at the gate to exit and no staff from @indigo.6e @indigoairways present…and the high-headed approach to passengers! My shoot got affected and I am terribly upset.”

Following the arrest of scammers who used Brad Pitt’s persona on social media to trick women, the representatives of Brad Pitt have sent out a warning to his followers. The 60-year-old Oscar winner, who does not have an official social media presence, issued a warning to the public on September 25.

“It’s awful that scammers take advantage of fans’ strong connection with celebrities, and this is an important reminder to not respond to unsolicited online outreach, especially from actors who have no social media presence,” Brad’s representative told PEOPLE.

The warning comes after the Spanish Ministry of the Interior revealed on September 23 that five individuals had been detained for their involvement in a “criminal organization” that cheated two women of over $350,000 via online fraud. Posing as a “fake Brad Pitt,” the con artists demanded money for investment projects and promised romantic relationships. Charges include fraud, money laundering, and forgery.

Similar scams have also been addressed by other celebrities. Celebrities like Johnny Depp, Tom Hanks, and Whoopi Goldberg have cautioned fans against phony accounts. Actress Florence Pugh said, “Just wanted to remind everyone that I do not have any other account other than this one,” in August, warning her fans to be careful. She expressed regret to those who got deceived, saying, “I’m sorry that you were [led] to believe that those spaces were safe.”

Williams spent 23 years on death row, maintaining his innocence throughout.

Conviction of Marcellus Williams

Felicia Gayle was a former social worker and journalist who was killed in her suburban St. Louis home in 1998. Williams was found guilty of her murder. Williams was charged with breaking into the woman’s house, stabbing her 43 times, stealing a laptop, and her purse. A fellow prisoner and his girlfriend, who both had criminal histories and eventually died, were among the witnesses who testified against him.

Doubts & Legal Challenges

Over time, Williams’ legal team argued that there was insufficient forensic evidence linking him to the offense. The DNA test on the murder weapon was done improperly, and Williams’ DNA was found to belong to the prosecutors. Moreover, his hair and a bloody shoeprint at the scene did not match. The courts upheld his conviction and sentence in spite of these objections.

Death of Marcellus Williams

On September 12, a judge made a decision upholding the death penalty and conviction. Governor of Missouri Michael Parson rejected clemency, claiming there was insufficient evidence to support Williams’ innocence. Many, including prosecutor Wesley Bell, contended that Williams’ life should have been spared despite these rulings, pointing out racial bias and faulty testimony in the initial trial. Williams was pronounced dead at 23:10 GMT after receiving the lethal injection at 23:01 GMT.
